Our Purpose
Securing bursaries for university can be a complex and challenging process for students. Meeting the strict eligibility criteria requires demonstrating financial need, which can be a discouraging task. Unfortunately, the current system often relies heavily on a household’s gross income, failing to consider other factors that may complicate household’s financial situation.
éTude Study Relief Fund is a registered Non-Profit Organisation (Registration NPC 2021/774713/08) and a Public Benefit Organisation (PBO 930074878) under Section 18A of the Income Tax Act (Act 58 of 1962). Our mission is to provide financial assistance to students who come from middle-income households, who do not qualify for other bursaries or scholarships due to their parents’ or guardians’ income levels and who can contribute to the cost associated with studying at a tertiary institution but do not have the financial means to cover all the costs.
Our Business Concept
We aim to create a study fund that will help these students cover the costs associated with studying at a tertiary institution in South Africa.
Funding provided by éTude Study Relief Fund is made available through the contributions of various donors in the private sector. Of the donations received, a portion is allocated for administration, logistics, and resources, while the best part of the funds are distributed to eligible students. The funds are paid directly to the student’s tertiary institution account twice a year, following the submission of semester results. No payments will be made if the recipient submits failed marks. The number of re-awards and new awards are dependent on the availability of funding.
Board of Directors
The awarding of funds is done under the guidance of an auditor, a legal expert and a strategic business manager to ensure transparency and fairness.
The responsibility of éTude Study Relief Fund directors is to:
- Ensure that éTude conducts business ethically and adheres to high standards of corporate behaviour.
- Preserve the fiscal stability of éTude.
